The 8th Annual HOLLYSHORTS FILM FESTIVAL (HSFF), which showcases short-form films at Grauman’s Chinese theater in Hollywood, is currently accepting film submissions for this year’s festival taking place August 9th-16th.
Named by MovieMaker Magazine as one of “25 Festivals Worth the Entry Fee,” HSFF is devoted to helping advance the careers of filmmakers by providing exposure through top-notch screenings and networking events during the highly anticipated week-long festival each August.
New for 2012, the HollyShorts Film Market will aim to secure distribution for the top in-competition short films. Shorts HD, the short movie channel, which can be seen in over 30 million homes, sponsors HSFF and will again be on the hunt for top content after acquiring over 15 short films from the 2011 program.
The 2012 Best Horror short film-winner will be given a one-week run on Fearnet, the horror channel, and HollyShorts also has a distribution deal for selected action and horror/thriller short films to be exhibited on Celestial Tiger/Lionsgate branded channels throughout Asia.
The Festival presents over $75,000 USD in prizes to winners, with Company 3 sponsoring awards of $10,000 in post-production and finishing services to both the Best Overall Short Film and Best Director award-winners, and $5,000 in post-production services to the Best Commercial and Best Music Video winners.
Other top prizes include a $5,000 camera rental package courtesy of Martini Crew Booking for the Best Student award-winner, and $5,000 in services from Greenhouse Studios.
New this year, Hollyshorts has partnered with NociCortinfestival to offer the winning U.S.-based filmmaker a screening opportunity at NociCortinfestival and a complimentary trip to the south of Italy to present their short film.
Last year, HSFF showcased over 350 projects including web series, music videos, commercials, and an impressive slate of animated, documentary, student, and short films of all genres.
