The 2012 NFL free agent list for quarterbacks has many intriguing selections, and there is no doubt that a few of these guys could make an immediate difference and help any team increase their odds of making the 2012 NFL playoffs, and possibly a run at a Super Bowl. Could you imagine Drew Brees on the NY Jets or Arizona Cardinals? All of the sudden those two teams become legitimate playoff teams. Odds are Brees isn’t leaving the ‘Big Easy,’ but just that fact that the Saints still haven’t sewed this guy up is quite mind boggling to many NFL fans.
“I hope this doesn’t happen in Detroit with Matt Stafford,” Tony S. of Warren said. “It’s hard to imagine Brees on another team, but if he did leave New Orleans I hope he goes to an AFC team so the Lions don’t need to face him!”
Here is a look at the list of free agent quarterbacks, and which teams they may end up with:
1.Drew Brees: The Pro Bowl quarterback will most likely stay in New Orleans, but may end up being slapped with the franchise tag this year in doing so. Brees is worth every penny, if he left the Saints would head right back to being the ‘Aint’s!
Potential teams for Brees: The list is too long; New Orleans is number one, followed by 20 others!
2. Peyton Manning: If his arm and neck are okay, almost every Super Bowl contender that needs a leader at quarterback will take a number and get in line. He would be the perfect mentor for Andrew Luck, but money issues may not let that happen.
Potential teams for Manning: Arizona Cardinals, New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks, Miami Dolphins, Washington Redskins
3. Matt Flynn: The LSU turned Packer back-up is about to get paid. Green Bay could place the franchise tag on Flynn, but it looks like they are willing to let him test the open waters.
Potential teams for Flynn: Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks, Washington Redskins
4. Alex Smith: The San Francisco 49ers are reportedly trying to re-sign Smith. If that fails the franchise tag will most likely be used on him.
Potential teams for Smith: San Francisco 49ers, Washington Redskins
5. Kyle Orton: Orton is an interesting prospect. One week he looks like a Pro Bowl player, only to look like he never played the game before in the following week. Either way, he will land somewhere next season.
Potential teams for Orton: Cleveland Browns, Washington Redskins, Seattle Seahawks
Here is a look at the rest of the free agent quarterbacks:
