Who is Matt Maher? I wasn’t sure until I discovered he wrote our day #26 song. “Your Grace Is Enough” is a “feel great about God” reminder that should coax a smile out of a sad-faced saint.
Maher is a singer and worship leader who has written numerous hits that have been covered by popular contemporary Christian artists. The day #25 song, “I Lift My Hands”, that appears on Chris Tomlin’s latest album was cowritten by Tomlin, Pastor Louie Giglio and Maher.
He has released five solo albums dating back to 2001 and is an active Catholic who has helped establish the Our Lady Of Mount Carmel parish in Tempe, Arizona.
I actually prefer the way Maher sings “Your Grace Is Enough” over the Chris Tomlin version that receives heavy play on contemporary Christian radio stations. I also like the words in verse two of the song:
Great is Your love and justice God of Jacob
You use the weak to lead the strong
You lead us in the song of Your salvation
And all Your people sing along
And what do the people sing along? “Your grace is enough” is the answer.
It’s amazing to think that God is willing to give us what we cannot earn: love, forgiveness, acceptance, eternal life and the Holy Spirit.
Of course, we’re realists so we know it comes with a huge price tag.
Thankfully, the price has already been paid by Jesus Christ. He won the battle over sin and death for us by enduring the cross and returning from the dead. It’s the reason we can sing “Your Grace Is Enough” and feel the peace that surpasses all understanding.
