A Streetcar Named Desire and Iman Cosmetics create sultry looks

by next ooze

IMAN Cosmetics is proud to announce they are the official cosmetics sponsor for the much anticipated multi-racial production of A Streetcar Named Desire, taking over the Broadhurst Theatre for a limited run from Sunday, April 22 and goes through July 22, 2012. Tennessee Williams’ sultry drama, A Streetcar Named Desire is set against the sexy backdrop of New Orleans’ gritty French Quarter.

Collaborating with the show’s makeup artist director, Valente Frazier will be leading the talented team from IMAN Cosmetics, to create the ultimate transformation and bring the characters to life on stage. “As the leader in the cosmetics arena for women with skin of color, it only made sense for our brand to partner with the show to highlight the beauty of diversity and the power of makeup artistry,” said Desiree Reid, Senior VP Brand Development, Iman Cosmetics.

Iman Cosmetics lead makeup artist, Valente Frazier says, “The inspiration for makeup for A Streetcar Named Desire is 1940’s glamour. The makeup from that time was a soft, feminine and natural beauty. Pared down sheer skin, rosy cheeks, defined brows and lashes, plus an unforgettable red lipstick were vital components to achieving this look. Be it the glowing face of Lena Horne or the sultry beauty of Dorothy Dandridge, these iconic beauties inspired glamour for women with skin of color during the 1940’s. I wanted to channel this iconic period look for Nicole Ari Parker and Daphne Ruben Vega using Iman Cosmetics.”

So what does this have to do with bridal? These looks for Streetcar are uber sexy but can be paired for your wedding day, giving you the ‘same’ sultry look. For the “Vintage Bride”, these looks are for you.

Blanche: The dynamic lead character of Blanche centers on nostalgia, fantasy, intensity and the romantic drama of the old south.

To achieve this look, apply Luxury Radiance Liquid Makeup to the face to even out skin tone and for a flawless complexion. Apply Luxury Pressed Powder to the t-zone to eliminate shine. Then use a soft natural blush by topping it with a touch of Luxury Blushing Powder in “Allure.”

Add modern day drama by lining Jet Black Perfect Eye Pencil in the rim of the eyes and applying the Cool Violet shadow trio in the Iman Eye-Con Kit.

Define the brow with the Perfect Eyebrow Pencil and top off defined lashes with Perfect Mascara. Finish off the look with a bold lip using IMAN Red Luxury Moisturizing Lipstick, a classic shade from the collection and one of Iman’s favorites.

Stella: The more youthful, innocent, practical character of Stella is beautiful, understated, simplistic, but matter-of-fact and committed. Here are the shades to get the look of Stella, beautifully portrayed by Daphne Rubin Vega.

Use the same foundation application as Blanche, but instead apply the soft bronze shadow from the Golden Radiance trio in the Eye-Con Kit for a subtle glow and paint lips with a natural hue like Luxury Moisturizing Lip Stain in “Oh Natural,” a gorgeous pinky brown.

No matter what your look, Iman Cosmetics will have your partner calling out STELLLLLL-AAAA. If you have the chance, make sure you take in this classic on Broadway.
