For some time I have been moved by the Spirit, and have had much lament for the state of Christianity in America. I have seen the surge of these “brands”, or as some dub “new revelations” of so called Christianity. These messages preached, taught and propagandized through the Internet, radio and TV; and then without exception incorporate those Christians who attempt to nullify the work of Christ and minimize the Holy Spirit. At the heart of the matter is the fact that His (God’s) people do not know His word. It is the only conceivable reason that these false doctrines, baseless theologies, phony rituals and astronomical heresy even exist. It is a famine of Spiritual knowledge , as prophesied in Amos 8:11. This should not catch anyone by surprise as it is written in the warning long ago “My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge” Hosea 4:6a., The following incident is a real life excerpt, it is but one small example of the legalism and legalistic mind set that is destroying believers, ruining the Church, an obstacle to sinners receiving salvation, and the reason Christians are not experiencing the manifestation of God’s promises in their lives.
On Tuesday April 10th, I witnessed a murder (a spiritual assassination). The only saving grace that the victim may still have time and avoid the death sentence handed down by this “Preacher”. These are strong words, and I will not back down from them. This irresponsibility needs to be stopped from within the Church, and especially from the pulpit. As I awoke that day I was listening to the radio, it was around seven in the morning, the station was the family radio network (Jacksonville). Nevertheless, as I mentioned, I heard this preacher as he embarked on his discourse and the execution of this spiritual murder/assasination. It is shameful, the preacher had no biblical mandate or authority to utter this condemnation. The message was definitely not of the Lord, nor does the message conform with the Gospel; this preacher is a minister of the devil. The preacher was sharing a recent intercession he had with a lady; the woman actively engaged in an adulterous relationship, and not willing to sever it. But in the midst of this blatant sin, the woman was responding to the Holy Spirit knocking at her heart to get right with God, to receive Jesus as her Lord and savior (Romans 8:5). As this woman interacted with this preacher, she posed a question ” will I have to leave this married man I love to receive Jesus”, and most shocking, yet very predictable response, as most Christians would do today, this fool, this preacher of iniquity said “yes, you must”. Sadly, the woman response was, “then I am not willing”, I pray that Lord sends a true messenger of the gospel to her. And if this was not enough, this “preacher” then so arrogantly and piously professed “how sinner’s refuse to turn from their ways.” No kidding, really, did this individual figure that this woman, with a dead spirit inherited from Adam as written in Roman 5:18-20 would respond to his rejection and condemnation. As Jesus Himself rebuked the Pharisees in Matthew 22:13-31, with God it is a matter of the heart. He knows and searches our hearts and minds, it is His Spirit that calls all to repentance. God is not willing that anyone shall perish. Romans 10:8-13 plainly represents the Gospel to and for the Hope of all. Yet somehow this preacher cast off all that is written for his self righteous religious garbage. The Gospel does not wait for man to cleanse himself first, rather it makes known to man that a righteousness apart from works (Romans 4:5-7) has been made available to him, through God’s grace and mercy, as it is written “that no man should boast” (Eph. 2:8-9). In Christ’s own words, “It is finished”; our salvation is provided for and found in Christ alone. It is a free gift of God for those who will receive (Romans 5:17-19). If the God of heaven Himself reconciled all to Himself through Christ Jesus (2 Cor 5:17-19) then who is man to stand in His way. Anyone who would do as the preacher has done is guilty of murder (condemnation and judgement), and the love of God is not in him. Anyone who preaches and reiterates this same atrocity is guilty and is an accessory to murder. It is God and God alone who is the Judge, we are to hate sin as He hates sin, but we are not to hate the sinner. If man needs to stop sinning before they can come to Christ then all is hopeless, Christ died in vain (Gal. 2:21), because man on his own is powerless to confront sin. All men have been sold as a slave to sin, it is inherited, there is absolutely nothing one can do about this; all men are sinners (Romans 3:23)
The Bible instructs us to be doers of the Word, we are to follow the example of Christ, and be guided by His word and Spirit. In the Gospels of Luke 18:9-14 and John 8:3-12, Jesus bestowed an excellent illustration for us to follow. There is a lesson to be learned from this, and it is a simple one. We preach the Good News, the Gospel of God, the Salvation of mankind through Christ Jesus. We are not to lord over the people or even add our two cents. Our task is to bring forth souls to the kingdom, and allow the Holy Spirit to minister and convict the new believer as the Spirit works within them. We are not the Holy Spirit though the Spirit dwells within us, and we definitely are not the one to do His work, though He uses and works through us, we are to submit to Him and follow His instruction. Therefore, we do as Jesus Christ our Lord Himself instructed Mark 16:15-16, “Go ye and preach the Gospel”; remember we are ambassadors of Christ, and we are to share His love.
