According to reports from ESPN, in a documentary by filmmaker Sean Pamphilon, who had access to the Saints while shooting a separate documentary, Gregg Williams, the former New Orleans defensive coordinator responsible for the now infamous bounty program, told his players before the NFC playoff game last year to take out specific players on the San Francisco 49ers.
“Target the outside ACL,” speaking of Michael Crabtree’s knees, hitting Frank Gore in the head, and, by injuring Alex Smith would lead to cash payouts.
“We’ve got to do everything in the world to make sure we kill Frank Gore’s head,” Williams told the players. “We want him running sideways. We want his head sideways.”
Kendall Hunter, Vernon Davis and Kyle Williams were also targeted, according to an audio recording.
“Little 32, referring to Williams’ jersey number, we want to knock the [expletive] out of him,” Williams said. “He has no idea what he’s in for. Go and get that [expletive] on the sidelines.”
The photos in the slideshow may prove the validity of these accusations or may just be a coincidence.
