It’s becoming tradition on “American Idol” (seen locally on FOX 5 NY) for the night’s song selections to make their way onto the Internet a little prior to air (sans the name of the performer). Tonight is no different, as the pop culture powerhouse leaked the list again via its Twitter page, causing fans to happily begin speculating yet again about who is performing what track!
The theme this week is two-fold as the cast will perform two songs, one from the Queen songbook and another of their own choosing. Among the songs selected from the iconic band include classics “Fat Bottomed Girls,” “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” and of course “Bohemian Rhapsody.” It has also been disclosed that had Colton Dixon not been eliminated he would have selected “The Show Must Go On,” which (fittingly) now looks to be tackled by another finalist.
Moving onto the contestant’s choice, it is clear the cast has selected a (very) diverse group of songs from Jimi Hendrix (“Bold As Love”), Miley Cyrus (“The Climb”) and Luther Vandross (“Dance With My Father”) as well as a mystery track only listed as “_____ ______ Band “The ______.”
Tonight will also see original Queen band members Roger Taylor and Brian May take the stage with the cast for a special group song. Fans can then expect noted Queen cover band “Queen Extravaganza,” to perform tomorrow night in addition to Katy Petty and season 10 finalist Stefano Langone.
So who is performing what song and more importantly who needs your support? Tune in tonight at 8pm EST for the show and remember to subscribe to this column for all the latest “American Idol” news. You can also learn more about your favorite contestants by visiting AmericanIdol.com.
