The 51st annual Apopka Art and Foliage Festival will be held this weekend, April 28 and 29, 2012. For more than half a century, Central Floridians have been coming to Apopka to visit the festival. This year more than 35,000 people are expected to attend.
Local nurseries will be showing and selling their plants and there is a free plant sitting service so you can continue to enjoy the festival after you purchase your plants. Growers and horticulturists will be available to answer your plant questions.
If you’d like to learn more about the nursery industry, guided foliage nursery bus tours will be available both days of the festival. Tickets will be available at the information booth.
In addition to plants, the event features more than 160 juried artists and crafters from across the nation who will sell their work and compete for prizes. Live, continuous entertainment is also part of the fun.
This two-day festival not only benefits Apopka, but surrounding communities as well. The proceeds from this event go back into the community through donations to more than 20 charitable organizations around Central Florida.
The Apopka Art and Foliage Festival takes place at Kit Land Nelson Park in Apopka (located between First Street and Orange Avenue as you go north on Park Avenue off of SR 441). An interactive map is located adjacent to this article.
Hours are 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday and 9 am to 4 pm on Sunday. For more information, visit the Apopka Art and Foliage Festival website.
