April is only the beginning of a yearlong list of culinary festivals where Wilmingtonians can sample great food, wine and beer. During this month’s culinary events, Wilmington can attend cooking demonstrations and mingle with celebrity chefs while celebrating spring with great tasting dishes paired with excellent wine. Monday, April 2nd: Grilled cheese and craft beers are the specials every Monday during April at the World Café Live. They serve up specialty-imported cheese and breads while pairing with craft beers. You will not find American cheese and Wonder bread at this event. Tastings begin at 6pm accompanied by a live performance. Theater and restaurant is located at 500 N. Market Street in Wilmington. April 1-7th: Two Stones Pub celebrates Beer Week in Wilmington. During the week, you can dine on beer and food pairings. Starting on Sunday, April 1st, the pub will be pouring Delaware made beers. Saturday, April 7th: The Party Animal Loop begins at 8:15pm any of the 21 participating clubs. A $5 cover charge covers the entrance to the clubs, the shuttle bus and the wristband. The proceeds of the loop benefits local animal shelters, so come dressed as your favorite party animal; however, costumes are optional. Participating clubs include Catherine Rooney’s, Dead Presidents, Kelly’s Logan House, Kid Shelleens, World Café Live, and Timothy’s Riverfront among others.
Friday, April 13th: The da Vinci Society of Delaware hosts the annual Primavera da Vinci beginning at 7pm. Admission is $75 per person. The food and wine celebration is located at the Hilton Wilmington/Christian on Continental Dr. It is an evening of live cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs, food stations, fine wines, and a silent auction. Friday, April 20th: The10th annual “Evening with the Masters” dinner begins at 6:30pm at the Doubletree Downtown in Wilmington. Tickets are $75 per person. The event features Gordon Ramsey Master Chef winner, Jennifer Behm, delicious foods prepared by top regional chefs, Wine pairings and live music by Back2Life. Sunday, April 22nd: The 15th annual Celebrity Chefs Brunch starts at 10:30am at the Bank of America lobby on North King Street in Wilmington. Tickets are $175 per person. The brunch is a culinary and wine extravaganza featuring an array of masterpieces prepared by 30 renowned chefs from around the world. April 23rd -28th: Wilmington’s City Restaurant Week begins on April 23rd. The restaurant week features two course lunches for $15 and 3-course dinners for $35. Fourteen of Wilmington’s regional restaurants open their doors for restaurant week. Customers may choose dinner or lunch from the participating restaurant’s fixed menus. Participants included Big Fish Grill, Harry’s Seafood Grill, Orillas Tapas Bar, Washington Street Ale House and Mikimotos among others.
