The Norfolk Admirals have set an all-time AHL record for most consecutive wins in a single season with eighteen. Don’t let the opportunity of being a part of this significant achievement pass you by. Come out and see the Admirals in action at the Norfolk Scope while they are on a seven-game home stand starting this Friday, March 23.
With just seven home games left and three road games following that, the Admirals are winding down the 2011-12 regular season. It is then on to the post-season as the Admirals advance to the Calder Cup Playoffs. They are the first team in the AHL to clinch a playoff spot this season.
With the buzz about basketball and March Madness taking over headlines, ice hockey sometimes tends to take a backseat. The Norfolk Admirals are well-deserving of a front seat. After all, how often does any team succeed in winning 18 games in a row? That is not an easy task because the game of hockey is, like every sport, very unpredictable.
All of the elements fell into place to give the Admirals the momentum they needed to win the last 18 games and they’ve got what it takes to go beyond the record. They have a depth that is perhaps the best they have had since joining the AHL. The Admirals have a solid base of skilled players with youth, athleticism and strong determination on their side.
Norfolk, Virginia is indeed a lucky town. After all, how many towns across the United States can claim that they have a first-place professional sports team in their midst? The Norfolk Scope is centrally located in Hampton Roads to provide the perfect venue for this record-setting team. Come out and spend a day shopping at nearby MacArthur Center Mall, have dinner at one of the nearby restaurants in downtown Norfolk and wrap up your night with a rousing game of Norfolk Admirals hockey.
