This weekend is the perfect staycation weekend in Atlanta, and you may find friends from out of town unexpectedly popping up on your doorstep, ready to chow down. Leave the vegetarians at home when you head out to the first annual Mother Clucker Fried Chicken Festival, on Saturday, March 31, from 2-6 p.m. in Rosebud’s parking lot. While advance tickets for the event have sold out, there will be some tickets available at the site, but guests without tickets are recommended to arrive early in order to avoid being shut out.
Chefs from all around Atlanta will be on hand to present their best breasts, wings, and thighs. The event is the brainchild of Ron “The Angry Chef” Eyester and will include chefs from DBA Barbecue, Fox Bros BBQ, Haven, Ritz Carlton Buckhead, Farm Burger, The Hungry Peach, Meehan’s Public House, and others. The $35 admission includes tastings from the chefs as well as Jim Beam drinks or Sweetwater beers. What more could you want from a Saturday afternoon?
Of course, if you’re feeling more in the mood to “pig out” than chow on chicken, you can also hit up Atlanta’s Bacon Fest, taking place the same day at Dad’s Garage. This event also includes live music and beer, and it is a fundraiser for the Dad’s Garage theater company. Tickets range from $25 – $85 if purchased online ($35 – $95 in person), depending how “hogwild” you intend to go.
Whichever event you choose, be prepared to come hungry and leave happy!
