Betty White has got to be the most beloved actress of all time both on TV and in movies. On Wednesday April 4, 2012 fans will get to see Betty and a few of her senior citizen friends in “Off Their Rockers” on NBC. Think Punk’d or Candid Camera but starring seniors pranking youngsters. Betty and company will be doing their best to shock the younger generation with pranks and hijinks galore.
The series “Off Their Rockers” premieres tonight Wednesday, April 4 8/7C and MST on NBC channel 9 KUSA on Comcast and DirecTV in Denver. Take a look at the full pilot video here and some fun promotional photos here.
The pranks in the pilot which you can watch in the video gallery to the left include some funny skits. You’ll see a nun talking about having a hangover, a senior waiting for his old ball and chain with two young women who are shocked when a hot young blond shows up and an elderly woman who propositions a man to help her join the “Mile High” club. Technically everyone in Denver already belongs to that club already.
“People have been telling me that I’m ‘off my rocker’ for years,” says White. “Now I can prove it!”
With that wonderfully recognized face, Betty White won’t be able to pull the pranks herself, but she’ll be featured in funny skits sprinkled throughout the show as she narrates and gives you pearls of wisdom from her successful career that includes credits from “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” “Golden Girls” and “Hot in Cleveland” on TV to her classically funny roles in movies like “Lake Placid” and “The Proposal.”
A pilot episode of “Off Their Rockers” aired on January 16 where 12.3 million viewers tuned in to see a sneak preview of “Betty White’s Off Their Rockers,” following the NBC special “Betty White’s 90th Birthday: A Tribute to America’s Golden Girl.” Betty’s show has already been spun off in 20 countries worldwide.
Consistent with the fun, playful tone of White’s persona, the international version of the series has been sold to more than 20 countries and has received many awards worldwide. “Benidorm Bastards” won the 2011 International Emmy Award for Best Comedy Series, and swept the Rose d’Or Awards, winning the Best Comedy Award as well as the Golden Rose for Best Program of the entire competition. In addition, the show won Best Comedy Format at the 2010 FRAPA Format Awards.
