In the deepest reaches of the Mogollon Rim in Arizona, a Research team of Preston Smith and Mitch Waite are setting motion sensing game cameras looking for the Mogollon Monster, Arizona’s Bigfoot. It is 15 February, 2010; a cold and crisp day early in the season. Snow is still in the area, and the researchers are hoping to find tracks in the snow banks which would lead them to a high probability area to place their cameras.
The first find was made by Preston. He located a trail of tracks in a large snow bank with the general direction of travel towards the highway. The tracks are melted out to the point where they could not determine if the prints were made by shoes or bare feet. The item that peeked their curiosity was the direction of travel. The prints were coming off the mountain headed back to the highway. Generally speaking, they reasoned the tracks may not be human. They thought humans would park the car, walk up the mountain and return on basically the same trail to minimize energy expended in the deep snow. On the other hand, tacks originating on the mountain and going down to the road may be a Bigfoot heading out on a hunt for food in the direction of a campground several miles away. They followed the foot prints in reverse to possibly find the point of origin.
When searching the forest, the researchers found they cover more ground and have more chances of seeing something if one researcher takes a low ground, and the other takes the high ground. Mitch took the low ground working his way up a small ravine. Preston was on the ridge to the North.
Mitch was alerted by a loud snap of a branch. Then more crackling sounded as if someone or something was moving parallel to him just over the ridge to the South of his location. Mitch started his video camera and rushed the ridge line. Topping the ridge, he started to pan the area in front of him with the video. Moments a rock bounced down the creek which caused Mitch to change focus.
Nothing further happened. Eventually, the game cameras were installed on that ridge, and the researchers went home. When the video was reviewed, a Bigfoot crouched behind a boulder between two trees was identified.
