Last year, you might remember reading about the Lucky Rice events that I mentioned with Bombay Sapphire as the main sponsor, back by popular demand, Lucky Rice events will take place next month in May.
The first Bombay event for 2012 I’ve attended this year took place at Macao, a quaint, nicely decorated bar/restaurant just below Chinatown in Tribeca.
Former Lot 61 owner/bartender concocted some specialty cocktails: The Improved Harlem Cocktail, Lucy Thai Number Two, Little Dragon, Negroni, Fraise Suavage, Martinez Cocktail Number 2 and more with Bombay Sapphire and Bombay Sapphire East.
Believe it or not, I sampled all of these cocktails except for one! The first as well as personal favorite, the Improved Harlem Cocktail was amazing!!
If you’d like to whip one of these up for yourself, here is the recipe: Bombay Sapphire, Maraschino Liqueur, Lime and Pineapple with a splash of St. Elizabeth Dram mixed in a blender. This was incredibly delicious and refreshing! Imagine a smoothie or shake with a definite kick!
Launching this July nationwide, Bombay Sapphire East, infused with two additional botanicals including–crisp Thai lemongrass and spicy Vietnamese black peppercorn is the perfect choice for the loyal Bombay fan as well as those with a taste for sophistication.
For the first time in 25 years BOMBAY unveils a new spirit, BOMBAY SAPPHIRE East. The ‘East’ edition launched exclusively in NYC and Las Vegas last September, so connoisseurs everywhere will be able to enjoy this in the summer!
Bombay Sapphire EAST will be the featured spirit at the 3rd annual LUCKYRICE Festival–presented by BOMBAY SAPPHIRE and Conde Nast Traveler– taking place May 1-6 here in NYC.
The LUCKYRICE festival affords New Yorkers the unique opportunity to experience exotic Asian cuisine and cocktails without ever leaving the city. Participating celebrity chefs this year include Susur Lee, Sang Yoon, Ming Tsai, Alan Wong, Roy Yamaguchi and Michelin-starred Thai culinary master David Thompson; with all proceeds going to City Harvest.
Festival founder, Danielle Chang, award-winning media entrepreneur who’s established and grown LUCKYRICE into being New York’s most prominent Asian food/cocktail festival, originally conceived as just a unique platform to celebrate and share stories about Asian food and culture, LUCKYRICE now collaborates with top chefs from Asia, Hawaii and across the US – many of whom have reached out to Danielle personally in hopes of participating. The Culinary Council includes heavy weights like Daniel Boulud, Anthony Bourdain, David Chang, Marcus Samuelsson and Jean-Georges. Reaffirming the festival’s success, LUCKYRICE will be heading west this year for the very first time, with debut celebrations in both Vegas (July) and LA (August).
