Forecast discussion: After seeing some dry weather on Friday, we will return to wet weather once again. However, this time we will see more rain than snow and sleet, and warmer temperatures. Some precipitation is making its way into western Connecticut as of writing this report (about 9:00 PM Friday night). The reason for this advisory is because the precipitation tonight will fall as a mix of sleet, snow, and freezing rain at first, before slowly changing over to all rain during the pre-dawn hours on Saturday. We may see a coating of ice on the roads during the early morning. By the late, we will see periods of light to moderate rain, and temperatures will climb into the lower 50’s. This is due to a warm front staying to our south. By mid-afternoon, the cold front that helped create all the tornadoes in several Midwest and Southeast states will move through, and our winds will shift to the west. For the rest of the weekend, high pressure building into the Rockies will give us delightful weather. We will be turning colder on Monday and Tuesday, due to Arctic air filtering into the Northeast. But, warmer air from the south will move into New England, as temperatures by Wednesday will reach the middle 50’s. There is the slight chance of showers Thursday evening, as a dying cold front passes through the state. By Friday, we could see high temperatures reaching 60 degrees or more in the capital city.
