Pilipino icon, Manny Pacman Pacquiao is a man who wears many hats these days. Aside from being pound for pound best boxer on the planet, Manny is a successful politician, a business man, a singer, a philanthropist and a movie star. Pacquiao also has a series of lucrative endorsement contracts from Nike to computers to broccoli and alcohol. But the super star athlete who has his hand in almost everything is most known for his generosity and undying desire to help his fellow men. Pacquiao’s June 9th opponent in the ring, undefeated American, Timothy Bradley is a complete opposite from Manny.
“I am a family guy,” said Bradley (28-0,12KO’S):”I stick close to my family I had a good role model looking up to my father. He stayed close to his family. So I am just there for my family, taking care of my household with my wife and my daughter and my other kids, they are at home right now. That’s all I do. I am a family guy.No talent other than boxing. I love cars. That’s my hobby. I love vehicles, but no other talents. Boxing is what I do and what I do best.”
Twenty eight years old Timothy Bradley is set to challenge Manny Pacquiao for WBO welterweight crown and number one pound for pound ranking on June 9th at the Mecca of boxing, MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Sold out event will be televised live by HBO PPV. The whole world knows about Bradley Pacquiao fight. Timothy was asked if his kids know about it.
“They know,” said Bradley who grew up in a near bye desert town of Palm Springs, California:” They think I am going to beathim too.” They are not the only ones who feel that way. A number of pundits believe Bradley is a very dangerous opponent for Pacquiao. Las Vegas book makers have installed Pacquiao as a three to one favorite to beat Bradley, but the odds are shrinking as I am writing this story. Pacquiao was eight to one favorite to beat his previous opponent, Juan Manuel Marquez.
“At that time I felt that it was close and I felt that Marquez could have pulled off the victory,” noted Bradley:”He probably did. I knew it was too close to call. You got to take it from the champion. You can’tthink that you are comfortable in the ring and winning a decision by coasting the last two rounds. You got to beat the champion. “Timothy Bradley plans to do just that on June 9th.
“I’ve always wanted to fight Manny Pacquiao, continued Bradley who has been training with his trusted coach, Joel Diaz at Indio’s Boys and Girls Club:” I’ve always seen vulnerability in his game just like he sees it in my game as well. Every fighter has faults. Theyhave flaws;it’s just going in the ring and applying a game plan that’s definitely going to make him uncomfortable in there. After seeing him fight against Marquez it did raise one of my eyebrows. I am like wow! That was closer than what I thought it was going to be. I thought actually that Manny was going to knock him out. I was picking Manny by may be 8thor 9th round stoppage. I was thinking of the weight difference, the power he possessed, the speed. I figured he was going to go through Marquez, but Marquez showed that thiswasnot going to be a walk in the park. He showed us all that night that he still can fight at 38 years old.”
Can twenty eight years old Bradley do better than Marquez? “I am not Marquez, neither do I fight like Marquez,” Bradley said:”I am Tim Bradley and I have my own fighting style and my own game plan to go out there and defeat this guy.”
