The Black Dahlia Theater
The Black Dahlia is a small, independent theater company that is dedicated to the development and production of new plays by emerging and established playwrights from all over the world. Center Theatre Group
Center Theatre Group is Los Angeles’s preeminent theater and arts institution. It contains three theaters of differing sizes: The Ahmanson Theatre, which hosts larger shows like musicals and traveling productions and The Mark Taper, which often focuses on the classics like Waiting for Godot, which are both located in revitizalized parts of downtown. The Kirk Douglas Theater, which is “off campus” and located in Culver City, gives a stage to quirky, smaller pieces that entertain independent-thinking audiences. Chalk Repertory Theatre
The Chalk Repertory Theatre bring site-specific work to the greater Los Angeles area. They definitely live up to their mission, which is to create classical and contemporary plays in unconventional spaces. From producing Shakespeare in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery to creating a one-woman show about a struggling realtor in an actual house that was for sale, Chalk Rep is one of the most fearless and fun young theater companies working in Los Angeles.

The Geffen Playhouse is a warm, inviting theater that often has acting celebrities taking on tough, meaty roles and giving their acting chops a real workout. The Geffen strives to bring thought provoking stories to the stage and outreaches to the LA community, whether it’s high schoolers audience or senior citizen patrons. The Fremont Centre Theatre
The Fremont Centre Theatre is known for championing original and work in the Los Angeles and South Pasadena community. The small theater was started by married Artistic Directors Lissa and James Reynolds over 15 years ago, and who still play vital daily roles in keeping the theater on point and clear in it’s mission: to entertain local audiences. The intimate theater, which shares it’s space with a beautiful patio and outdoor coffee cafe, is a true asset to the South Pasadena neighborhood.

South Coast Repertory
South Coast Repertory is the magnificent Tony-Award winning theater located in Orange County. Whether you’re looking for a one-person show, a musical, an out-of-town traveling show, something for the kids or a sophisticated night out, South Coast Rep is where you go in Costa Mesa, California, which is about 45 driving minutes out of Los Angeles. South Coast can look a bit like an industrial complex on the outside, but once inside, you will be welcomed into one of their many creative spaces and leave transformed. The theater architecture itself is truly a spectacle and not to be missed when visiting California.
