The Canton Charge dropped their second-straight game in a 107-100 loss to the Iowa Energy in Des Moines on Thursday night. The defeat sends Canton to 26-20 on the season and in fifth place in the playoff race. Iowa improved to 24-21 and into the eighth seed. The Charge has four games left to play and the Energy have five.
The Energy led for the entire duration of the game and by as much as 14 at one point. Canton shot just 38%, but also grabbed a team season-high 57 rebounds to Iowa’s 43. The Energy had 23 fast break points to the Charge’s seven. Iowa wins the season series between the two East rivals, 4-3.
Luke Harangody had his seventh double-double of the year with 26 points and a team individual season-high 21 rebounds in 40 minutes. Frank Hassell came off the bench to provide his eleventh double-double of the season with 21 points, 11 rebounds and one block in 26 minutes. T.J. Campbell contributed 19 points, five rebounds and eight assists in 44 minutes.
Six Energy players scored in double figures, led by Mike Efevberha’s 31 with nine rebounds and four assists in 38 minutes. Ben Strong made his presence felt with 11 points, six rebounds and nine blocks in 38 minutes. Iowa’s 14 team blocks were a Charge opponent season-high. Paul Harris added 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting in 22 minutes of relief off the bench
The Charge is back at it tomorrow night as they travel to Austin to cap off the season series with the Toros at 8:30 p.m.
