If you haven’t been to Cerrillos Hills State Park, New Mexico’s newest park, here are some great opportunities. Sarah Wood, the manager out at Cerrillos State Park, has a good line-up of events for April.
Solar Circus, Saturday, April 7th 2-4PM
Come find out what is going on with our nearest star. Learn about the park’s analemma kiosk and view sunspots and prominences through our solar telescope.
Twilight Hike, Friday, April 20th 7-9PM
As the Sun sets, the transition from day to night offers a wonderful time to experience the rhythm of nature. Join us on this leisurely hike, revel in the gloaming and welcome the night.
History Hike, Sunday April 29th 2-4PM
Join local historian, Bill Baxter, for a jaunt through the Cerrillos Hills. Learn the natural, cultural and mining history of the area. Find out how the ‘little hills’ were a giant force behind the settlement of New Mexico.
Cost: $5 per vehicle or free with your State Parks Annual Day Use Pass (available for $40 from any ranger)
Location: Meet at the parking lot 1/2 mile north of Cerrillos Village on County Road 59.
