Weehawken, being right across from Manhattan, is probably often overlooked as far as restaurants go. Why eat in Weehawken when New York City, with seemingly limitless restaurant options, is just a short ride away? Well, one reason to stay and eat in Weehawken is the Chart House.
The Chart House is located in Lincoln Harbor, on the Hudson River, directly across from the stunning view of the Manhattan skyline. Even if the food were not excellent, the view alone would be enough to make a trip here. However, the food matches the view. Specializing in fresh fish, original seafood dishes, and tender, aged steak, the Chart House menu is extensive, with something for everyone.
Start off with a cocktail, like the mango mojito, and one of their appetizers, such as their crunchy coconut shrimp, crab stuffed mushrooms, or lobster & shrimp spring rolls. As far as soups and salads go, their chopped spinach salad, served with a warm bacon dressing, and their clam chowder (some of the best I’ve had) are both excellent choices. For dinner, you really can’t go wrong with anything you order, but the macadamia crusted mahi or the seared mahi topped with lobster and lump crab are standouts. Finish off the meal with their signature hot lava cake.
The Chart House restaurant is one of those restaurants you go to for special occasions. Dinner entree prices range from $25-$39 and if you order cocktails and appetizers, you’re looking at a minimum of $40-$50 per person. However, for those who are more budget conscious, happy hour at the Chart House is a good alternative. Many of their famous appetizers and delicious cocktails are $4-$6! Happy hour is Monday – Friday 4:30-6:00 PM.
