This past Saturday the Cincinnati Rollergirls (CRG) double header against Demolition City was College Night offering discounted tickets to students from the surrounding colleges and universities. A battle of North Central rivals the #8 Cincinnati Black Sheep hosting the #22 Demolition City Dynamite Dolls in the main event.
There were some shakeups in the Black Sheep roster as Hannah Barbaric was sidelined with an injury earlier in the week, so Kitten Kicker moved up to the Black Sheep roster. Also as reported earlier new skater Sauci debuted on the All-Star team. The Sheep got off to a slow start, but once their groove was found the game was theirs. The Black Sheep defeated the Dynamite Dolls 203-112.
The Dynamite Dolls came into the game 2-1 this season which included a 53 point loss to Grand Raggidy on January 29th. The Cincinnati Black Sheep are 1-1 on the season having defeated Grand Raggidy by 24 points back in February in CRG’s season opener, but took one on the chin from Arch Rival 158-118 on March 10th in the Cincinnati Gardens.

The game got underway at 8:45, and the Black Sheep were getting off to a slow start, the first seven minutes of the game saw CRG down to Demolition City 35-0. The Demolition City jammers were having little trouble getting through the packs, while the Cincinnati jammers were striking out.
CandyKickA$$ was sent to the box behind Demolition City jammer Sprintin’ Tarantino, but upon Candy’s entrance back onto the track she scored four points for the Black Sheep, putting them on the board and giving Cincinnati the spark it needed.
K-Lethal took to the line next and put 10 points up, but possibly more important was the defensive work of Sk8r-Kinney, Nuk’em, Buckhead Betty and Karma Krash only allowing Demolition City two points.
Jungle Lacy, who fans do not typically see with the jammer star on, put up 14 points while her blockers June with a Cleaver, Wheezy, Ruff’n the Passer and Kitten Kicker shut out Demolition City on that jam. CRG was on their heels 37-28. Perhaps Jungle Lacy needs to do this more often.
Over the next nine minutes it was a cat and mouse game with Cincinnati pulling close, and then Demolition City adding some distance. In jam 15, Sauci took the track for the first time and helped Ruff’n the Passer, CandyKickA$$ and Buckhead Betty keep the opposing jammer and blockers at bay which allowed Nuk’em to bring the Black Sheep to within 5 points on a powerjam the score was now a close 57-52.
K-Lethal took advantage of a powerjam in jam 16 and busted it wide open 80-57 in favor of Cincinnati with about two minutes left in the first half. Demolition City jammer Sprintin Terantino came back into the pack and around the turn was knocked out of bounds by Wheezy who backed up trying to force the Demolition City jammer in behind her, instead Sprintin Terantino track cut Wheezy by what appeared to be a good 20 feet. No penalty was called which brought out Coach Quad Almighty to the center of the track for a discussion with Head Referee Captain Gorgeous.
In the final two minutes, CandyKickA$$ and Wheezy helped widen the gap and the Black Sheep took a 104-57 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Black Sheep are becoming late breaking Thoroughbreds, it may take a few minutes to get going, but once they do, look out!
The first thirteen minutes of the second half saw the Cincinnati Black Sheep outscore Demolition City 42-0, an almost mirror image to Cincinnati being down 35-0 in the first half. Cincinnati kept pressing forward making blocks and scoring points, showing the fans in attendance why they are a nationally ranked team.
There was enough time on the clock for one final jam and K-Lethal was on the jammer line for Cincinnati with Jungle Lacy, Wheezy and Karma Krash in as blockers. Penn Tupanga was beginning the jam in the box.
Cincinnati was stuck on 199 points for the previous six minutes until now when K-Lethal put up four points and then called off the final jam The Cincinnati Black Sheep won 203-112.
K-Lethal takes my jammer MVP award not only for her scoring, but for the fabulous move in turn 1 where she twirls 360 degrees around a Demolition City blocker to be awarded lead jammer. Nuk’em gets my blocker MVP. Her shoulders of steel busting up packs, and marvelous footwork set her apart. Aroldis Chapman throws fastballs, Graeter’s makes ice cream and Nuk’em roller skates, that is what happens in Cincinnati.
The Cincinnati Rollergirls next home game is April 21st. The Violent Lambs will play Radioactive City from Paducah Kentucky and the Black Sheep take on the Tampa Bay Derby Darlins.
