The landmark Paramount Theatre celebrates its 80th anniversary season this year with an ongoing film series dubbed “Classic Movie Mondays.”
What could be more appropriate than a spectacularly refurbished Art Deco movie palace staging a series of film revivals?
Try the ticket price: in honor of their 80th anniversary, a retro $.80 per show. Yes, you read right. You can catch a flick on the big screen in crystal clear digital projection and get change back from your single. Now that’s nostalgia!
In a nod to today’s moviegoing experience, the theatre also offers a full service bar.
The combination of value, great vintage films and state of the art technology have drawn hundreds of patrons to downtown Aurora to start the week with a movie night out. Each Monday carries a different theme: Horror (1st Monday), Comedy (2nd Monday), Romance (3rd Monday) and Adventure (4th Monday).
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the movie starting promptly at 7 p.m.

The historic Art Deco-styled Paramount Theatre opened September 3, 1931 as the prototype for movie palaces parent corporation Paramount Famous Lasky built subsequently all over the country.
The theater presented variety entertainment, including movies, vaudeville, concerts and circus performances for more than 40 years. In 1976, the Aurora Civic Center Authority purchased and restored the Paramount to its original grandeur. The Paramount reopened on April 29, 1978, offering a variety of theatrical, musical, comedy, dance and family programming. A 12,000 square foot “Grand Gallery” lobby housing a cafe, gift shop and art gallery was added in 2006.
Today, the Paramount Theatre supports an annual audience of 150,000 patrons and was named one of the Top 10 theatres in Chicago by the League of Chicago Theatres.
The Paramount Theatre is located in the heart of downtown Aurora at 23 E. Galena Blvd.
