The Cleveland Indians got back to basics when it came to announcing what was new this season at Progressive Field.
Sure, there were a number of food items that will be offered for the first time at the nearly 20-year old home of the Tribe that include veggie dogs and veggie Italian sausage.
But what may be more important is the club will now allow fans to enter the ballpark with their own factory sealed bottle of water that is 20 ounces or less and will also permit fans to re-enter the facility through a designated gate (Gate A) should they have to leave before the game has ended and want to return to see the rest of the game.
The new policies were introduced at the Tribe’s annual “What’s New at Progressive Field” media event the week before the club returned from spring training in Arizona.
Besides the fan friendly policies, the Indians will have a new Kid Clubhouse and Club Lounge for younger fans that will also allow their parents, grandparents or their adult supervisors to watch their children and see the game at the same time.
There will be two areas available with those age 6 and under in one area and grade-school age children able to take part in the Slugger’s Sandlot area. Both areas that will occupy former loge areas in the right field corner will begin allowing fans to take part beginning May 6.
Special events this season that have been big fans hits in the past have increased their number of dates for 2012.
That list includes:
14 fireworks nights
15 Rally Alley games
3 post-game concerts
9 Dollar Dog games
13 giveaways that include jersey and bobblehead premiums
On the field the Indians will wear four different uniforms that have a twinge of change in them.
Cleveland, which will go with a block C on either a blue or red hat, will wear either blue, white or grey uniform tops.
Cleveland’s primary home top will be white and have script Indians across the front with Chief Wahoo on the sleave and numbers on the back.
The alternate home jersey is cream with block Indians on the front with Chief Wahoo on the sleave and numbers on the back.
The Indians will go on the road with navy blue tops with script Indians on the front with Chief Wahoo on the sleave and numbers on the back. The alternate road jersey is gray with block Cleveland on the front, Chief Wahoo on the sleave and numbers on the back.
An added fan feature involving tickets finds the Indians now offering Club Seats for as low as $65 per ticket and offer many perks with that reduced price. This and any other ticket offer can be found at indians.com or Indians team shops.
