On March 29, 1982, a freshman named Michael Jordan made the game-winning shot that gave North Carolina Tar Heels the National Championship over the vaunted Georgetown Hoyas and Patrick Ewing. 30 years, 6 NBA championships and multiple denials of Ewing later, sports history has marked that date as the moment when Jordan began his journey as the greatest of all time. And he did it all in the Converse Pro Leather, the official shoes of UNC at the moment.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of “The Shot,” Converse and Jordan Brand (which is totally not weird at all since Nike owns both brands) are teaming up and creating 23 special packs that will made available through an online auction. While the only thing that is known about the pack is that it will included a Converse Pro Leather with Jordan Brand iconography, the pack will also include “product inspired by that magical night.” Expect to see a little bit more swag included in the pack.
The auction will begin on the day of the National Championship Game on April 2nd. Here is the press release from Converse…
23 Packs of the JORDAN x CONVERSE COLLAB will be auctioned off on Monday, April 2 with proceeds to benefit charity.
Thirty years ago, we got a glimpse of things to come. Wearing Converse kicks, a skinny freshman named Mike Jordan sunk a game-winning jumper in New Orleans to seal a national championship for North Carolina. Moving forward, the number 23 would forever carry high expectations as a symbol of greatness on the court. Jordan Brand is celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Michael Jordan’s historic game winning shot by hosting a special online auction with product inspired by that magical night.
Stay tuned to find out how you can bid on this one-of-a-kind package. The 23 packs will only be available via auction and all proceeds will be donated to charity.
