The library isn’t just a place for books at Cooper Memorial Library. This library offers free programs such as Opera at the Library for the general public to enjoy. This April, the Opera at the Library program is showing Gioacchino Rossini’s ll Barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville). Monday April 23rd, 2012 this opera will be shown in room 108B and run from 1:45 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Before the opera is shown there will be a short introduction by Dennis Smolarek, Reference Librarian at Cooper Memorial Library. Norma Trivelli, Adjunct Professor of Foreign Languages and Vocal coach at Lake-Sumter Community College, will also be helping with the introduction.
People are always welcome to join in these free sessions to further their understanding, enjoyment and appreciation of opera. Refreshments will also be provided at intermission. These are special thanks to Friends of the Opera.
So come on down and enjoy some good opera for the day. You never know what you could learn and you can bring yourself even more enjoyment from the thing you already like if not love.
