With only eight games remaining in the 2012 baseball season, the Colorado Christian University Cougars are alone in last place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference’s Plains Division. Even if the Cougars sweep both remaining series with Regis University and division leading New Mexico Highlands University, the eight wins would only give CCU a 14 – 26 conference record.
The two teams immediately ahead of the Cougars in the standings are Regis and the University of Nebraska-Kearney. Both Regis and UNK currently sit at .500 with conference records of 16 – 16.
In addition to its even record of wins and losses in conference play, the Regis University Rangers bring an overall season record of 21 – 20 into the weekend series with CCU. Regis split its last four games on the road at New Mexico Highlands. The Rangers won the opener and the final game but the Cowboys took the middle two in the series.
Colorado Christian enters the weekend on a four game losing streak. The Cougars were swept in its last four games at Nebraska-Kearney.
Double header action between CCU and Regis gets underway tomorrow at 12 p.m. at All Star Park, 200 South Harlan Street in Lakewood. The series concludes in Lakewood on Saturday with a double header also beginning at 12 p.m.
