Mark your calendars and get out your green! St. Patrick’s Day is a week away, and one does not have to be in Ireland, or even Irish, to celebrate. There are going to be a number opportunites for great Irish food and drink in the Dayton area, beginning early Saturday morning and lasting well into the night.
Two locations at The Greene Towne Center in Beavercreek will host St. Patrick’s Day celebrations on Saturday. The Pub will start the day at 8 a.m. with a “kegs and eggs” breakfast and follow with a number of food and drink specials, including $3 green beer. There will also be live music and specials on popular Irish drinks including Guinness, Irish car bombs, and Jameson. Beginning at 11 a.m., Adobe Gila’s will also offer specials on drinks such as Irish car bombs, Jager bombs, Jameson. A DJ will also play from 10 p.m. until close.
The Irish Club of Dayton will also offer breakfast at 9 a.m. and will continue with drinks and celebration. Three bands and an Irish dance troupe will be performing throughout the afternoon and evening. There is a $5 cover charge for this event.
TJ Chumps in Englewood will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day as well as NCAA March Madness beginning at 11 a.m. Irish dishes including beer cheese soup, ruebens, and corned beef and cabbage soup will be served. There will be a special on a variety of draft and bottle drinks, including Green Bud Light.
All of the celebrations described above are distincly for the 21 and over crowd. However, the IUE-CWA Local 755 in Kettering will host afternoon entertainment from 2 until 10 p.m. A number of Irish dance troupes will perform and Irish food and drink will be served. St. Patrick’s Day might not normally be thought of as an opportunity for cultural diversity, but many of the above opportunities offer a look into both the Irish and Irish-American cultures through food, drink, dance, and music.
