Derrick Rose said he “fell in love” with the tower after spending three weeks in a hotel room there last summer. He said he chose the Trump Tower because “no one bothers you there.”
The Chicago Bulls point guard recently purchased the condo in Chicago’s Trump International Hotel and Tower for 2.8 million, according to Crain’s Chicago Business Real Estate.
With panoramic views of Chicago, the 3,100 square foot luxurious condo sits high near the top of the 92-story tower.
A native from the Englewood neighborhood, Derrick Rose said, “It’s definitely an unbelievable feeling just being up there. The view is nice and I don’t take it for granted. It’s a blessing.”
The three-bedroom unit located on the upper floors includes four bathrooms and a den. It also features an indoor parking space, a must for any downtown resident.
Last year, the three-time NBA All-Star signed a five-year, $95 million contract extension with the Bulls. At the age of 22, Rose became the league’s youngest MVP. He also landed a sweet 14-year deal with Adidas A.G, a German sports company, for $260 million.
“It’s a blessing, man,” Rose said about working with Adidas. “Definitely a blessing, they’ve been with me, they stuck with me from the beginning and I’m happy that I’m a part of them for the rest of my life.”
Over the past few summers, Rose has traveled the world as a global spokesperson for Adidas. He’s been with them since he entered the league reported Nick Friedell with ESPN Chicago.
Derrick Rose plans to officially move into his luxurious new condo at 401 N. Wabash before the end of the season. He may even run into another neighboring sports star. The Trump Tower is also home to Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane.
Crain’s Chicago Business Real Estate reported by the end of 2011, Donald Trump had sold 337, or 69 percent, of the building’s 486 luxury residential condos. This data is from the Appraisal Research Counselors, a Chicago-based consulting firm. The developer had sold 159, or 47 percent, of the building’s 339 hotel units.
The architectural design of one of the tallest buildings in Chicago is simply spectacular. With stainless steel and glass curtain wall façade reflecting over the river, the curvilinear structure is situated in the heart of downtown.
Mr. Rose will have a front row seat for the city’s biggest events including breathtaking views of the fireworks display at Navy Pier and Chicago’s air and water show. The NBA all-star champ has definitely earned the gold stamp, five-star rating.
