On Wednesday, April 25, 2012, the 20th Annual Dining Out for Life event, one of Open Hand’s largest annual fundraisers, will be hosted at more than 100 metro Atlanta restaurants. For those that enjoy a meal at participating restaurants, 20% or more of their total check will be donated by the restaurant to support the community nutrition programs of Open Hand, which recently celebrated the delivery of its 20 millionth meal in the Atlanta community.
AutoTrader.com is once again the Presenting Sponsor of this year’s event, which takes place on Administrative Professionals Day. Businesses are encouraged to use this day to both show their gratitude to these important members of their staff and support Open Hand by treating them to breakfast, lunch or dinner at a participating restaurant. This is an ideal opportunity to bring together friends and families not only for a meal, but for a great cause. From trivia teams and social clubs to faith groups and athletic teams, restaurants such as Murphy’s, Nicola’s and Babette’s Cafe are eager to provide diners with a fun dining experience to benefit Open Hand.
Open Hand is a nonprofit organization that provides medically-appropriate meals and nutrition education to homebound seniors and individuals living with diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, HIV/AIDS, cancer and disabilities associated with these and other chronic illnesses. Open Hand, commemorating its 24th year of service to the community, has grown to become the nation’s largest community-based provider of home-delivered meals – preparing, packing and delivering more than 5,000 meals daily across 17 Georgia counties.
Last year, through restaurant contributions, sponsorships and individual donations, more than $140,000 was raised in support of Open Hand. On April 25th, diners across Atlanta will have a wide variety of restaurants to choose from, making this an ideal time to visit an old favorite or try something new!
