Doctor Who on BBC America is only weeks away from premiering, but that is not stopping people from wanting as much information as possible. On March 29/30 I was able to scour the internet to find all you Who fans some tasty tidbits of information.
watch season 7 teaser trailer
In the first bit of information acquired an enterprising Who fan actually gives some great tips when watching Classic Who. Those fans like myself who have come into Doctor Who during its reboot have had some reservations in regards to watching the Classic because let’s be honest it is beyond cheesy (I have had the privilege of watching some and once the laughter stops, the stories are definitely intriguing) but here is one tip that will help you overcome the silliness when watching:
1). Don’t try to watch it all at once. I usually break the episode up in chunks by day. A story arch in old Who, could be up to six episodes long. The shortest were resolved in two episodes! My advice is to break it up into a series of days. The episodes were meant to be spaced out. So do that, it’s easier to digest and the slow pacing becomes more palatable. The TARDIS is one of those items that is as familiar and iconic as the Doctor and the folks over at Forbidden Planet have another collectible that is full size trash bin. How fun would it be to own one? Here are the specs:
- -The approximate height is 42cms, but remember, it’s bigger on the inside.
- -Office-sized Trash Can is a detailed model of the 11th Doctor’s TARDIS.
- -Step on pedal and the roof opens.
- -Removable interior can with handle to make trash easily removable.
- -Sound & Light activated when the pedal is pressed.
- -Tardis Materialise noise when opened and Tardis Dematerialize noise when closed. The light is pale blue and flashes with the crescendos of the sound effect.
The trash bin can be purchased for $63.92 when converted from 39.99 pounds. It is available for pre-order now.
Next up on the Who internet roundup, it appears that David Yates is refusing to give up the fight for a legit Doctor Who movie. I don’t know how I feel about it but, I figure as long as he keeps it in align with the TV series then it could work. (read more about it here)
Last but certainly not least, Dalek’s are returning to Doctor Who. According to bbc.co.uk.com they offer up teasing pictures and this short message:
Not much had been confirmed about the Doctor’s forthcoming adventures but we think it’s safe to say we can expect to see the return of perhaps the Doctor’s most legendary foe. Here are some sneaky pictures fresh from the set of Doctor Who where the Daleks are being wheeled before the cameras once again. But which design? The answer is ALL OF THEM!
So apparently they are bringing back the old design of the Daleks since the new ones, the big colorful ones were not as awesome as they hoped.
There you have it. A Doctor Who internet roundup and with the Doctor coming soon, I for one appreciate any and all news to get me excited for the show to come.
Doctor Who airs on BBC America on Saturdays at 9e/p
