Today’s “Dr. Oz Show” will have viewers once again busting down the doors of their local supplement store looking for the five fastest fat burners that were recommended by Dr. Mehmet Oz. But one item – green coffee bean extract – may now be as close as your grocer’s shelves.
Dr. Lindsey Duncan was on Thursday’s show talking about the green coffee bean and how it can help weight loss by inhibiting the body’s release of glucose while also boosting the burning of fat in the liver. Similar to green tea vs. black tea, green coffee is lower in caffeine than fully roasted coffee. Caffeine is also a proven metabolism booster. You can read more about Duncan’s thoughts on green coffee bean extract HERE.
You can buy green coffee bean extract in supplement form from many sources (it’s quite affordable), but why not reap its rewards by drinking it?
Late last month, Starbucks announced plans to enter the energy drink market with a line of green coffee extract-based Refreshers drinks sold at grocery stores. The coffee giant had been test-marketing two flavors of Refreshers last summer in San Diego-area Starbucks stores. We happened to be in the area last summer and were immediately hooked on the slightly sweetened drinks that didn’t taste like coffee at all.
The canned Starbucks Refreshers drinks are 60 calories per 12 ounce can and are fortified with B vitamins and ginseng. The slightly carbonated drinks come in three flavors – Raspberry Pomegranate, Strawberry Lemonade, and Orange Melon. The drinks should be available by the end of this month in more than 160,000 locations, including Publix and Walgreens. (Check your local grocer to find out when and if it’ll be carrying them.) Amazon also carries it by the case if you’re in love with the products.
