With the Easter season approaching quickly in Calgary, children can become excited about what’s to come. There are many different ways to celebrate this yearly holiday and create family traditions that your family will cherish for years to come without spending a lot of money.
Often budgets will depict what a family can and can not participate in when it comes to extra activities or creating fun traditions. Just because you have a budget does not mean that your children cannot have a great time celebrating Easter, there are many creative things that you can all participate in without spending a great deal of money or travelling to far away places away from Alberta.
- Decorate Easter eggs: you don’t need to purchase a fancy coloring kit or tools if it isn’t in your budget. Purchase stickers from a discount store that your children pick out, use permanent markers or even a food coloring and vinegar mixture (1 cup water with food coloring and a tbsp of white vinegar) to color your own eggs without spending a lot of money.
- Make Easter cards for each other, other members of the family or even friends. Use household supplies, glue, uncooked noodles, glitter, markers, or whatever you can find to make them creative and festive.
- Make Easter bunny ears for everyone to wear during Easter dinner. Take a long strip of paper approximately 2-4″ in width and measure it to fit around your child’s head. Tape or glue closed. Add cardboard cutout white bunny ears, color in pink and voila!
There are many other Easter themed ideas you can do with your children to make it fun and festive. Ask your children for any ideas they may have and the possibilities are endless!
