Uruguayan international and SS Napoli striker Edinson Cavani is a major transfer target of multiple clubs this summer.
The 25-year-old has scored 46 goals for Napoli since moving to Naples from Palermo in the summer of 2010 and he is sure to knock in a few more before the end of the Italian Serie A season.
Manchester City have been hot on his trail since January with Citizens’ manager Roberto Mancini being tipped for a bank breaking transfer bid for the player this coming summer by TalkSport.
However, despite the rumors Cavani is thought to be ready to respect his Napoli contract if those are the wishes of his current employer.
The player’s comments to the press indicate that all he is currently focused on is his football with Napoli:
I don’t know. The club will deal with this sort of thing. I am focused only on playing my football and winning every game.
The club will think about the rest and they know what to do.
Cavani’s agent, Claudio Anellucci also shares the same view according to his comments in the Daily Mail:
I do not want to answer to the question about whether Cavani will stay or go.
Edinson answered that Saturday and he was very clear, but everyone can interpret what he said the way they want.
For every player it is important to have the team’s future very clear, but financial matters are also important.
Napoli has a serious project and any player would like to be part of it. Cavani has a contract and he wants to respect it.
It is unclear at this time what will ultimately happen with Cavani this summer, but it is for certain that there will be a great many suitors out to poach him from Napoli.
