Tom’s Guide is reporting some exciting news for fans of the Elder Scrolls series. According to an anonymous industry source Bethesda will be revealing an Elder Scrolls MMO game some time in May.
This source was kind enough to leak the title of the game; Elder Scrolls Online is said to be set a thousand years before any of the current games, including Skyrim and Oblivion. There will be three playable factions for the choosing each represented by different animal crests: a lion, dragon, and some type of “bird of prey.”
Even after this May debut, gamers should expect to see more concerning this update during this summer’s E3 conference and even more coverage during Quakecon 2012 in August.
The fact that Bethesda and Zenimax were even making an MMO was not much of a secret. For one, there was much drama brewing between Bethesda, ZeniMax and Interplay over the rights of creating a Fallout MMO. Most fans assumed that this would be the only MMO coming from the studio. Also for some time, there has been several job postings on ZeniMax’s website, seeking people with experience in making MMOs.
Several news outlets have reached out to Bethesda for a comment on this new development, but have yet to receive any word either confirming or denying this rumor.
