The convergence of Los Angeles and New York. A more intimate event held during Los Angeles’ Fashion Week was held at North Robertston hot spot, Sur Lounge. Penned “Untapped Fashion & Music” an eclectic array of interesting clothing, jewelry and accessory designers collaborated. Betsey Johnson endorsed the event and hopefully it is not a “one hit wonder” event and builds upon its success.
The event was really pulled together by Jordana Hazan, who is the PR Director of “Untapped PR.” She is based in Los Angeles, New York and Palm Beach and both her and her sister bring a welcoming presence to the event. Being fluent in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French is a plus.
SUR is one of those places that is a bit overdone, but you have to love the elegant vibe. It is owned by Lisa Vanderpump of BRAVO’s hit series “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” It’s where the beautiful people in Hollywood mix on Tuesday nights and the décor is over the top. The outdoor garden out back is beautiful however and with great weather all year in LA, perfect for an outdoor/indoor party. If you like “Luxe” romantic, you will love it.
Guests were swept inside the Lounge side of the restaurant, greeted by the vibes of DJ Yoshi, who flew in from NYC to turn the tables to top hits and hip hop beats. Urban Uber-Chic Jimmy Swagg let guests try on sunglasses. Models rocked frocks from LA native Alana Hale. Catalina Jewelry and Dana Faith both showed great everyday accessories.
Sponsors included Number 4 Haircare, Patinum Salon, Santa Teresa Hotel– Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, Hotel Erwin– Venice Beach, CA, The Sanctuary Hotel– New York, NY and Hotel Angeleno– Los Angeles, CA.
Celebrity guests included, Adrienne Janic– Co-Host of Backstage Pass: E! News Special & TLC’s “Overhaulin'”, Keith Robinson from “Dear John” & “Dream Girls,” LaMonica Garrett from “CSI,” Stephanie Pratt from “The Hills” & Sharaé Nikai – head stylist of TLC’s new show “Brides of Beverly Hills”, Bike Racing Superstar “Johnny Rock Page” and Jo Lance– Creative Director & Fashion Expert on “Mexico’s Next Top Model.”
What made this event unique was the interactive nature of the event. During the showcase, guests were able to try on items as well as speak to the designers. Whether they sold much, remains to be told. After all, it is Hollywood, where gawking and mingling is always in full swing. A welcome back red carpet would certainly be welcome for these ladies to showcase again.
