Former Buckeye great, Michael Redd, has been chosen to be honored as the 2012 Ohio Sports Legend by the Central Ohio FCA. This seems fitting with the OSU hoopsters making it to the NCAA Final Four this year. Redd was instumental in leading the OSU basketball team to the Final Four in 1999. Drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in 2000, Redd became an NBA All-Star and Olympic Gold Medalist before tearing his ACL and MCL twice. On December 29th, 2011, Redd signed with the Phoenix Suns.
FCA’s vision statement is, “To see the world inpacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of athletes and coaches.” The Ohio Sports Legends is an FCA annual event that honors Ohio athletes and coaches in middle school, high school, and college.
Past legend honorees include: Rex Kern, Anthony Munoz, Clark Kellog, Jim Tressel, Chris Spielman, Dave Dravecky, Archie Griffin, Sam Rutigliano, Todd Bell, Jerry Lucas, Craig Krenzel, Andre Thornton, and William White.
