Following on the heels of Justin Gardenhire’s January success, which included nearly $100,000 in tournament winnings and a World Series of Poker Circuit Event (WSOPC) gold ring at the tour’s Choctaw Casino, OK, stop, fellow Ponca City, OK, resident Doug Flett lead the push for success for Wichita regional poker players from the last week of January to the end of March.
After cashing in a mid-January event at the Choctaw WSOPC event Flett went on a tear at the February WSOPC West Palm Beach, FL, tour stop. He cashed four times for a total of $119,507 in winnings. His 2nd, 7th, 12th, and 21st place showings also earned him tournament “Best All-Around Player” and an automatic seat into the $1 Million 2011/12 WSOPC National Championship to be held in Las Vegas this upcoming summer.

Numerous other area players saw tournament success as well.
In position to make the $1 Million WSOPC National Championship as well following his January success Justin Gardenhire added two more cashes in circuit events. He finished 35th in WSOPC Tunica Event #5, $345 buy-in, for $564 and 65th in WSOPC West Palm Beach Event #1, $555 buy-in, for $2,395. Both were No-Limit Hold’em events.
Six area Kansas players surprisingly cashed in Event #2, $350 No-Limit Hold’em re-entry, of WSOPC Council Bluffs. Timothy Nimitz, Caldwell, led the group by finishing 3rd for $16,169; Edward Marick, Salina, finished 9th for $3,316; Brad Schartz, Manhattan, finished 22nd for $1,272; Michael Bollinger, Halstead, finished 24th for $1,272; Henry Gingerich, Haven, finished 52nd for $604; and Troy Ethridge, Salina, finished 59th for $557.
Daniel Snowden, Arkansas City, KS, cashed again. This time he finishing 2nd at the Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza 1 Event #2, $340 No-Limit Hold’em, for $9,897. Also cashing from Arkansas City in the Las Vegas tournament from was James Sybrant. He finished 7th for $2,508.
Wichita’s Chad Bradbury found success in two tournaments. In the $1,600 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em Main Event at WSOPC Tunica Bradbury finished 27th for $5,846. He followed that up by finishing 141st in the same $555 buy-in WSOPC West Palm Beach, FL, event Flett and Gardenhire cashed in. He earned $1,475 as a result.
Three Kansas players cashed at the recent Heartland Poker Tour stop at Downstream Casino, Quapaw, OK, in February. Udall’s Bill Wilson and Dale Adams finished 15th and 16th respectively in the $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event. The positions paid $4,687 and $4,247. Frontenac’s Kaleb Terlip finished 17th to earn $3,954.
