The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) has been spinning with a cool array of free music events to accompany the 17-day exhibit, Transmission LA: AV Club. On Thursday, May 3, 2012, head downtown to see DJ Harvey and James Murphy’s live performance from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Geffen Contemporary. This creative, all ages event is free, but due to limited capacity, tickets are required. Click here to reserve yours, starting at 10 a.m. on May 2nd. Only two tickets per person are allowed. Present a valid government issued photo ID at Will Call, after 5:30 p.m. on the day of the event, to receive your reserved tickets.
Transmission LA: AV Club is a modern interdisciplinary festival showcasing the work of 16 contemporary artists, musicians, designers, filmmakers, and chefs, including Peter Coffin, Jim Drain, Will Fowler, Benjamin Jones, Mike Mills, Takeshi Murata, and Tom Sachs. Mike D from the Beastie Boys curated this hot event, presented by The Avant/Garde Diaries.
Cambridge clubber, DJ Harvey, is credited with turning the U.K. on to the disco/garage/house blend from the States. DFA Records founder, James Murphy, made the rounds with LCD Soundsystem and his debut single, Losing My Edge. Murphy also scored Ben Stiller’s quirky film, Greenberg.
