Pint-sized senior looking for that special someone. I have sown my wild oats and am searching for a soul mate who also enjoys leisurely strolls by day and snuggling by night.
This week’s senior spotlight is on Jalapeno. He is a 10-year-old Rat terrier mix who weighs in at a whopping 12.5 pounds. He was a stray making his own way on the mean streets of Omaha and found himself at the Nebraska Humane Society Animal Shelter. He was not claimed so preparations were made to ready him for the shelter’s adoption floor.
He was neutered, vaccinated and tested negative for heartworm disease. He also had a dental cleaning, during which a few teeth were extracted. When he sufficiently recovered from anesthetic, he sauntered down the hall to the shelter’s grooming room. There he was brushed with a bristle brush and bathed. His ears were cleaned while he was in the tub, even the little crinkly one.
His Meet Your Match evaluation has him pegged as a Purple, “Couch Potato.” This means he likes napping and curling up on a lap when the mood strikes.
When you adopt a senior pet, what you see is what you get. Jalapeno won’t need constant supervision or entertainment. He knows how to act within a family and will quickly learn where to potty. We don’t know about the hand he was dealt in the past, but the mystery is part of his charm.
If you are ready to change little Jalapeno’s world for the better, come meet him at the Nebraska Humane Society. To find more information about him or the other pets waiting at the shelter for homes, visit www.nehumanesociety.org.
