The Gwinnett Braves, in conjunction with the Atlanta Braves, have announced the Futures Team roster for Tuesday, April 3’s “Atlanta Braves All-Stars vs. Future Stars Game” at Coolray Field. The 25-player list of prospects, which will be guided by legendary former Braves manager Bobby Cox, includes rising stars from minor league affiliates in Class-A Rome, Class-A Advanced Lynchburg, Double-A Mississippi and Triple-A Gwinnett.
Three players expected to be with the Gwinnett Braves on opening day are included on the Futures Team. Right-handers Jaye Chapman and J.J. Hoover, each who played with the G-Braves in 2011, are amongst 11 pitchers on the roster. Third-base prospect Joey Terdoslavich, the Atlanta Braves’ Minor League Player of the Year in 2011, will be in a Gwinnett uniform for the first time. The 23-year-old Terdoslavich hit .286 with 20 home runs and 82 RBI in a banner year for Class-A Advanced Lynchburg last season.
Included on the Futures Team pitching staff are two of the Top 10 Braves’ prospects as ranked preseason by MLB.com. Left-hander Sean Gilmartin, the club’s first-round pick in the 2011 draft, leads the way. The former Florida State Seminole is ranked No. 6 on MLB.com’s rankings after going 2-2 with a 3.09 ERA over six starts between the Gulf Coast League and Class-A Rome. Gilmartin will represent Double-A Mississippi. Right-hander J.R. Graham, ranked No. 10 following a 5-2 record and 1.72 ERA for Rookie Danville last season, will represent Class-A Advanced Lynchburg.
