What’s the next thing you do when your a highly successful music star? Create your own music label. Maroon 5’s Adam Levine has created 222 Records. The label is named for Adam’s lucky number, which is the number of the studio Maroon 5 first recorded in.
The label’s second signing is Glee’s Matthew Morrison. Morrison’s sophomore album will be released on 222 Records this year. “I am excited for everyone to hear Matthew’s forthcoming album. Great things are in store for him with this release,” said Adam Levine.
Said Morrison on his upcoming work with Levine,“I am excited to be working on my next album with such an incredible singer, writer and producer as Adam Levine. Adam and I share the same vision as we begin working on my record together.”
222 Records first signing is 20-year old pop-soul singer/songwriter Rozzi Crane, who is enrolled in University of Southern California’s elite Popular Music program. She is currently working on her debut studio album. The first single is slated for a Fall 2012 release.
“The first time I heard Rozzi sing I knew I had to find a way to be a part of it. I didn’t have to think about it. She’s THAT incredible,” praises Adam Levine. Crane is featured on the Maroon 5 track, Come Away produced by T-Bone Burnett for the 2012 film Hunger Games.
Rozzi Crane has opened for Earth, Wind & Fire, Esperanza Spaulding, Anthony Hamilton and Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. She has also toured with the Eagles’s Don Henley and Brazillian legend Sergio Mendes singing backup vocals. She is scheduled to join Maroon 5 on tour during 2012-2013.
