Being a wrestling fan, WrestleMania has always excited me! I have had the chance to go to a few WM’s live. And all I can say is, wow. What an experence.
The first ever WrestleMania I ordered was WrestleMania 19. I was watching pro wrestling long before that, but I never had enough to order the pay per views. I remember that day like it was yesterday. I preped myself by watching past WrestleMania all day long, I jammed to wrestling theme songs all day long. Then, WrestleMania went live on my TV in my living room! I was in awe the whole show. The fealing of it, the sound of it, there is nothing like watching WrestleMania.
Fast forward to 2010, WrestleMania 26. It had been 7 years since I was drawn into my first ever WrestleMania live on pay per view, but this year was different. At that point in my life, I was making youtube videos about my views and opinions on the pro wrestling buisness. And through that, I had meet some great people online. Other video makers, like me, who loved professional wrestling. Our bond was very strong, even though we never meet each other. That changed, as we decided to make a trip to Phenoix, Arizona, to attend WrestleMania 26 live, with each other.
To be fair, this was not my first WrestleMania live. I had attended WrestleMania 22 from my home town of Chicago. This was different, though. I had heard from so many people that to experence WrestleMania, you need to do everything that WWE offers on that weekend. All I did for WM 22 was attend the show. I did not go to any fan axxess, hall of fame, etc. I simply went to the show. That is fun and all, but from what I would learn, that’s just a taste of what WrestleMania truely is.
We got our tickets for WrestleMania in November, so the wait was long, and sometimes madning. It seemed to drag on forever. The build up for the main event, between my favorite wrestler of all time, Shawn Michaels, taking on a close second, The Undertaer, was great. I was stoaked to see that match live, as well as meet some fellow wrestling fans.
The day came, I flew out to Arizona a few days early to visit my Uncle. After I spent a few days with him, I travled to meet up with the people I had gotten very close with via a computer screen. Long story short, we enjoyed Phenoix with each other, going to the grand canyon, and a few other places. We were wreslting fans, in the town of the biggest event of the year in pro wrestling. Things could not get any better.
WrestleMania 26 was fantastic live. The matches dilvered, and I got to see my favorite wrestler’s final match. What a time it was! It was the pefect trip for many reasons. Mainly, it was the first time that we had ever meet each other. I can’t describe the bond I have with them. Friends via computer screen, to meeting each other. I think of all of them as real friends, not just people I talk with over the internet. Plus, we were around people like us. People who loved wrestling. It’s very rare to find wrestling fans now a days, since most of them keep their love for wrestling hidden from the general public, since it’s “uncool”. In Arizona, wrestling fans were all around us. It was like I was at home, everyone around me loved what I loved. What a feeling that was!
2010 passed, and towards the end of the year, we all decided to do it again in 2011, to travel to WrestleMania 27 in Atlanta, Georga! That year was different then the last, because it was the first time I had the full WrestleMania weekend experence. In Arizona, I just did WrestleMania (like I had done for 22), but this year I wanted the full experence.
This was quite a experence. Out of luck, our hotel was on the street where the wrestlers would stay, and where the wrestling fans hung out. I thought Arizona was cool, being around fellow fans, but Atlanta toped it. It was a sea of wrestling shirts everywhere I went! Not only that, but I was able to meet a ton of wrestlers. Legends, current stars, you name it. I took a ton of picutes, shook a ton of hands. As a fan, it was heaven to me.
First thing WWE wise we did, was Fan Axxess the morning of WrestleMania. I can’t express how fun that is, if you’re a wrestling fan! So many wrestlers had tables set up for meet and greets, and there were tons of stations with different things to do. Since we had meet every wrestler I wanted to meet the days before Axxess, we spent our time going to the different stations. Such as The Undertakers Graveyard, which had his outfits from his WM matches, and graves of each person he had beaten. They also had trivia, make you’re own entrance, and a bunch of other stuff. It was a great time!
After Axxess, we went to the arena. We watched WrestleMania live, for the second year in a row. People said it did not come off well on TV, but being there live was a blast! The next day, we went to Monday Night Raw, to end our WrestleMania weekend.
Then, we departed back to our own worlds. I left this trip super happy. I had truely experenced WrestleMania weekend. My WrestleMania experence had happened. Now, it’s 2012. We are all set to do it again. The matches look amazing. Rock Vs John Cena, Taker Vs HHH, Punk Vs Jericho. The next 4 weeks will drag on like no other. I simply can’t wait to see everyone again, and have this expernece again!
