In this installment of the greatest matches in Wrestle Mania history, we will examine matches 15-6.
#15, WWE Champion Ric Flair vs. Macho Man Randy Savage—Wrestle Mania 8 (1992)—Indianapolis, Indiana.
Just a great match with a nice mix of technical wrestling and brawling. In the end, Savage rolls up Flair to win his second WWE Championship.
#14, WWE Champion Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels in a 60 minute Iron Man match—Wrestle Mania 12 (1996)—Anaheim, California
A true testament of how good Hart and HBK were. The match started off slow but picked up at about the 20 minute mark. In the overtime session, Michaels picks up the pin fall win and wins his first World Championship.
#13, Edge vs. Mick Foley in a Hardcore match—Wrestle Mania 22 (2006)—Chicago, Illinois
This was Foley’s “Mania Moment” as he and Edge beat the hell out of each other. A Spear onto a flaming table was what it took for Edge to put Foley down.
#12, Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart—Wrestle Mania 10 (1994)—New York, New York
The best opening bout in WWE pay per view history in my opinion. Owen ends up coming out on top with a counter to a victory roll, giving him his biggest win of his career.
#11, Tag Team Champions The Dudleys (Bubba Ray and Devon) vs. Edge and Christian vs. The Hardys (Jeff and Matt) in a TLC match—Wrestle Mania 17 (2001)—Houston, Texas
What can you say about this match? A ridiculous amount of spots book ended by Edge and Christian winning the Tag Titles yet again by retrieving the title belts first.
#10, Intercontinental Champion Razor Ramon vs. Shawn Michaels in a Ladder match—Wrestle Mania 10 (1994)—New York, New York
This match set the standard for all following ladder matches as HBK began his legacy as ‘Mr. Wrestle Mania’. However, Razor retains by retrieving the title belts first.
#9, Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho—Wrestle Mania 19 (2003)—Seattle, Washington
HBK makes his Mania in ring return of a five year hiatus and tears the house down with the help of Jericho. Michaels gets the win via pin fall but takes a kick to the groin from Jericho after the match.
#8, The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan—Wrestle Mania 18 (2002)—Toronto, Ontario
Far from a five star match but this one will be forever be remembered for the ruckus crowd and how they turned Hogan face on that night. As for the match, Rock picked up the pin fall victory.
#7, Intercontinental Champion Macho Man Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat—Wrestle Mania 3 (1987)—Detroit, Michigan
One of the classic pure wrestling matches of all time, bar none. In the end, Steamboat gets the pin fall win, winning the I/C Title. Its shame these two never had a rematch on PPV.
#6, The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels with Michaels’ career on the line—Wrestle Mania 26 (2010)—Phoenix, Arizona
In HBK’s swan song, he and Undertaker put on a near perfect bout. A second straight Tombstone Pile Driver did Michaels in, ending his storied career.
