Don’t you just love it when one group of people decides how another group should feel about any given subject? How could “the blacks” not just love it when “whiter than white” Sean Hannity and “whiter than white” Brent Bozell tell them what they should be thinking about the Trayvon Martin shooting.
On Fox News, host Sean Hannity and conservative media critic Brent Bozell, like many in the conservative echo chamber, have dwelled on the fact that the fringe New Black Panthers, who have been condemned by everyone, offered a “bounty” on Zimmerman’s head. And Hannity and Bozell found the real scandal here — that NBC News edited a 911 tape in a way that portrayed Zimmerman in a poor light.
Thank goodness for cooler heads, like Ann Coulter.
Ann says it won’t be long before roving bands of black people are marauding through the streets looking for random white people to kill.
“It’s shocking,” she said. “I mean it is a lynch mob. This isn’t how we try cases in this country. And you know, the last time you saw this sort of thing on a regular basis was again of course from the Democratic Party and the Democratic Party’s outgrowth, the KKK. So, I guess we shouldn’t be surprised that we get this from the Democrats. They have never bought into the criminal justice system where you have grand jurors and a procedure where evidence is vetted and police look at it and prosecutors and grand jurors.”
See, for Ann and many in the right wing nutjob punditry, history stopped in 1950. Yes, the original KKK was created by members of the Democratic party in the 19th century. Most of the south, at the time, voted Democratic. However, when President Truman desegregated the armed forces, many right wing southerners broke away from the Democrats and formed the Dixiecrat party, running future Republican Strom Thurmond as its presidential candidate. In 1948, Thurmond and his Dixiecrats won Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, and got one electoral vote from Tennessee. Realizing that a third party stood no chance, they joined the party that welcomed segregationalists and racists with open arms, the Grand Old Party. Coulter and others love to rub the Democrats noses in the fact that they created the KKK. But in the Civil War, the newly formed Republican Party was the party that stood against slavery while the old guard Democrats in the south seceded from the Union and then seceded from the party. The switchover was complete when President Kennedy (Democrat) proposed and Lyndon Baines Johnson (Democrat) signed the Voting Rights Bill, which not one single southern legislator supported.
History is fun when you only have to remember the parts you want to remember.
Things keep getting worse for George Zimmerman, the self-appointed watch captain who shot Trayvon Martin after being beaten by the teen with such severity that his wounds magically healed within the hour. (Despite earlier reports that the police surveillance videos where Zimmerman is shown remarkably unharmed were taken four hours after the shooting, in fact, the video was taken within the hour of the killing. A remarkable feat of healing power.)
Now, it turns out that Zimmerman was fired from a under-the-table gig as a security guard at illegal parties because he was a hot-head who got aggressive and hurt people
Zimmerman, at the center of a firestorm for shooting an unarmed black teenager a month ago, worked for two different agencies providing security to illegal house parties between 2001 and 2005, the former co-worker said.
“Usually he was just a cool guy. He liked to drink and hang with the women like the rest of us,” he said. “But it was like Jekyll and Hyde. When the dude snapped, he snapped.”
The source said Zimmerman, who made between $50 and $100 a night, was let go in 2005.
“He had a temper and he became a liability,” the man said. “One time this woman was acting a little out of control. She was drunk. George lost his cool and totally overreacted,” he said. “It was weird, because he was such a cool guy, but he got all nuts. He picked her up and threw her. It was pure rage. She twisted her ankle. Everyone was flipping out.”
Zimmerman’s brother, Robert Jr. (a person that Zimmerman’s own lawyer says hasn’t talked to Zimmerman in years and was just doing interviews “to get on TV”) repeated the same family line Zimmerman’s father obligingly parroted to a Fox TV station in Orlando 24 hours earlier.
More media is talking about the shooting, but it doesn’t seem like we’re any closer to seeing an arrest. But “the blacks” should take comfort and just let the law “serve and protect” them just like the law has always “served and protected” minorities in this country, especially in the south.
Oh, and Trayvon Martin is still dead.
