Lavon: “This is exactly the kind of mindless fun Lavon Hayes needs right now.”

Heart of Dixie has returned, and it picks up right where it left off with George’s dad in the hospital. Zoe’s father Ethan comes to do the surgery and ends up asking Zoe to assist in the surgery. Now the father daughter stuff was interesting to watch, but the drama of it ruined the storyline a little bit. The main problem is that there were too many dramatic things happening within this one storyline. First Zoe is determined to be mad at him. Then they are friends. Then Zoe gets upset when Ethan says they should be friends since they can’t have a father and son relationship. Then that backfires when Ethan acts like a dad, and then there is a happy ending to all the drama. It would have been better if the writers would have either cut back on the tensions within this storyline, or if they would have spread out all of this drama, although Ethan’s scenes where he is concerned about Zoe’s relationship with George were fantastic. What did you think of all the father drama during this episode?
Lemon continues her crazy schemes to take down Zoe Hart. Her extreme paranoia is a little annoying mainly because she makes progress, and then goes crazy again. It is almost like the writers feel the need to amplify up the tension between Zoe and Lemon out of fear that the show will become boring without it. They can have friendship type moments, and tonight was a missed opportunity for one of those. Both Lemon and Zoe have been abandoned by a parent. Even though Zoe’s situation is different than Lemon’s, they both experienced the same feelings of abandonment and not being good enough. It was just a perfect opportunity, and this could have happened during the tour of the Breeland house. Would you like to see more of Zoe and Lemon acting friendly towards one another?
The writers made a smart move by balancing the serious tone of the other storylines with the just fun one at the Rammer Jammer. Wade and Shelley compete to make a new signature cocktail. The best part of this storyline is probably Lavon being Wade’s taste tester. Overall this was just a funny storyline that allowed for Wade and Lavon more time to be best friends, which is always great to see. It is unclear whether the writers are building to something regarding Wade’s talent for mixing drinks. Can you see Wade being a professional bartender?
