The neon trend has been around since last season but it’s definitely not out just yet. This spring we’re spotting neon paired with neutrals and it’s a great spin on the trend because it makes you look less like you’re stuck in the 80s and more like classic ray of light. Admit it, when you spot someone on the street with a pop of color it brightens up your day. So why not go around sprinkling some sunshine into people’s lives?
The first thing to remember when trying to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe is not to overdo it. Your objective should not be to look like Debbie Gibson in the 80s.
To avoid the blinding affect neon can have on the eyes its best to wear it in small increments. Colors like beige, black, white, or any hue related to the neutral family would be an ideal choice to pair it with. Try a bright pair of lemon color ballet flats with your favorite tailored pants or dress.
This can’t be emphasized enough, if you are afraid of wearing a neon shirt or skinny pants you can always sport neon accessories. Totes like this one are ideal and they’re a safe choice. Designers have even incorporated the neon trend in some of their jewels.
Never wear anything you are not completely comfortable in. Fashion is all about self-expression and not just about following trends. Always make intelligent purchases while shopping for new staples for your closet. You want your pieces to last for seasons to come.
