The update you’ve all been waiting for–advance tickets for the premiere of Christopher R. Mihm’s “House of Ghosts” are on sale online right now at www.sainteuphoria.com. Tickets are $10 for the collectible ticket (while supplies last) and a special gift (TBD). Obviously, this is not news for hardcore fans of this director and his work. This is for those of you who’ve not yet joined that number.
The premiere will be on May 23 at the Heights Theater which is on Central Av. NE and 40th in Columbia Heights, just three blocks out of NE Mpls. This classic theater has held the premieres of each of Mihm’s films and all have sold out. Half of the seats are already sold and anyone who hesitates could lose out on an amazing experience.
This year’s program includes hand-picked, era appropriate newsreels, classic trailers, live appearances by most (if not all) cast and crew, free cake, autographs, photos with a ghost or two from the film (bring your camera), a merchandise raffle, music on the WCCO Mighty Wurlitzer organ and other-worldly shenanigans in honor of the films of William Castle (“House on Haunted Hill”).
Those of you who are not yet fans can read more about all of his films and the director himself in the archived articles of this page. Briefly, Mihm’s films are tributes to the cheesy, low-budget horror films of the ’50’s which he watched with his father prior to his father’s untimely death. Mihm decided to make his own films to honor that time with his father. “House of Ghosts” is the latest in his series of family-friendly efforts. Each is a stand-alone film but there are many cross references to previous films and each contains at least one “Star Wars” reference. These films are all intended to be fun for the sake of fun, a chance to share a cinematic experience with family and friends. There are certainly going to be other showings at other venues but there can only be one premiere. Don’t miss out on being part of that.
In other Mihmiverse news, “Attack of the Moon Zombies” (last year’s film) has been nominated wfor a Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Award. The Rondos are the only true classic horror fandom award voted on by fans. Voting is open to the public via email. To vote, log onto http://rondoaward.com/rondo/rondos.html. As always, seeya at the movies…
