Last night was opening night for the musical revue Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash in Denver and as the audience entered the Stage Theatre, it was quickly apparent that this production has broad family appeal. The show, recommended for ages 6 and up, is definitely one not to miss if you are looking for a fun, entertaining and relaxing night out for all.
Johnny Cash has been referred to as one of the most influential musicians of the 20 century as his music spanned decades touching a wide variety of genres including rockabilly, rock-n-roll, blues, folk and gospel, and yet Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash delves deeper. Not centered purely on Cash’s music, this production was created to honor the man.
Jason Edwards, director, successfully sums it up, “We’re just trying to honor him, honor him music, honor what he was trying to say, do it in his words and covey that to the audience in some way.” Edwards and the entire cast and crew have succeeded.
Why choose to take your family? So many ‘fun nights out with the family’ are often left in the recesses of the mind after a day or two, but a night out to see Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash has the potential to be so much more. It’s full of love and emotion, humor and empathy. It leaves the audience (and it will leave your family members) with something to think about and to talk about – Life.
So if you’re ready for a little more than a fun night out at the movies or a day on the slopes, why not check out Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash at the Stage Theatre? The production will run through May 13th and tickets start at just $35. For more information or to purchase tickets, go to: denvercenter.org
