Rare and unpublished Marilyn Monroe photos have emerged from the estate of a photographer who was close with the sex symbol. Allan “Whitey” Snyder died in 1994 and his estate is offering several photos to go on the block March 31st and April 1st at Julien’s Auctions’ Hollywood Legends sale. He was Marilyn’s photographer for 15 years from 1946 until she died in 1962.

Unpublished pictures of Monroe show her in various wardrobe tests for Let’s Make Love, River of No Return, Something’s Got to Give, and The Prince and the Showgirl. There are scenes of “Whitey” applying Monroe’s makeup while she’s in lingerie for Let’s Make Love. There are also personal letters, telegrams, and a money clip the Marilyn gave to “Whitey” that are up for sale. She even requested he do her makeup if she died before she did, which he wound up doing in addition to being one of the pallbearers for her funeral.
Rare images of Marilyn Monroe seem to surface every few years. With the thousands and thousands of pictures taken of the sex symbol, it’s always a shock to learn there’s more someone knows about, but has managed to keep it hid from the world.
