Friday saw a wide variety of weather across West Michigan. Thunderstorms traveled across the region during the morning with light snow for areas from Mount Pleasant to Alma.
There was even a change in weather across Grand Rapids. Areas on the southern side of the city saw primarily rain; while my house in Comstock Park (on the north side) saw a period of freezing drizzle.
The air temperature hovered near freezing long enough to put down a coating of ice on the trees and even freeze my wind instruments for a few hours. See the photos in the slideshow on the left. If you look closely at the instrument photo you can see a “sideways” icicle on two of the three cups.
